Half a Million of Your Tax Dollars to the Chamber
With the approval of the revised budget on Tuesday, the County Commission has given $500,000 of your tax hike dollars to the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.
With the subsidy, Gwinnett property owners became the largest investor in Partnership Gwinnett. Essentially, your money will pay for a consultant to tell the Chamber what is wrong with Gwinnett and how to fix it.
If you own a house worth $200,000, your share of the subsidy to the Chamber is about $1.36.
The money was added to the budget just days before it was approved; it was not in the budget that Chairman Bannister presented to the public on December 1 and about which public hearings were held.
What do you think? Are you pleased to hear that, in the current economic climate, expenditures are being added to the budget without advanced notice?
