Ethics

The actions of the County Commission regarding recent land purchases are under investigation by a special Grand Jury. The Commission Chairman has been cited and paid fines for multiple violations of campaign finance law. Public confidence and trust in our county officials is at an all-time low.

In 2007, a consultant examined Gwinnett’s ethics policy and found it lacking in several notable areas. The consultant recommended improvements including the creation of a standing panel to accept and investigate complaints.

The County Commission ignored the recommendation.

SaveGwinnett believes that the adoption of a strong ethics policy and the appointment of a citizen panel to accept and investigate complaints will go far to improve the quality of individuals who serve and, thereby, the quality of life in our county.

SaveGwinnett to Explore Improvements to Ethics Policy

SaveGwinnett is forming an exploratory committee to examine Gwinnett County’s ethics policy. The group’s goal will be to formulate a plan for improving the policy, for presentation to the County Commission at a later date. If you would like to participate in the group, contact us at somebody@savegwinnett.com.
